Common Aptitude Test is a gateway to top management colleges for MBA, PGDM and various other PG level courses. Claimed to be one of the toughest exams, CAT marks your entry in IIMs and IITs. Nearly 20 IIMs and 130 management institutes take part in this all India level examination.

CAT Registration starts in July with the release of its official notification, marking the beginning of the race to the top management colleges. Candidates can register for CAT on the official website.

IIMs have been conducting CAT since 1950 and the number of applicants witnesses a rise each year. The national level examination is held in two sessions, tentatively in the month of November. Approximately 4000 seats are available in 20 IIMs, and nearly 2 Lac candidates fight for those seats, proving it to be a hard to crack deal.

CAT has a history of successfully surprising aspirants every year with a change in pattern or types of question asked. It is unpredictable and witnesses a few changes each year.  However, as per the IIM Lucknow notification, there are no such changes in CAT 2017 exam pattern.

Common Aptitude Test, here more than 2 lac aspirants fight for nearly 4000 IIM seats, making it one of the toughest exam for management course. Prior to 2009, CAT was a pen and paper based exam which hereafter shifted to computer-based making it convenient for aspirants to attempt. Aspirants have to fight for 180 minutes, 60 minutes for each section and give their best shot to be in the top scorers.
