The director has roped in 110 actors in his periodic drama and apparently each one of them will be having a substantial part in the film. The casting director of the film, Rohan Mapuskar has locked the final cast of the film after a month-long process.
On talking about the huge star cast, Mapuskar said, “The third battle of Panipat lasted for several days and involved almost 125,000 troops, so you can imagine the scale of it. There were many important people involved in this battle, hence we had to cast so many actors in the film. Director Ashutosh Gowariker has envisioned the film on a huge scale, and ‘Panipat’ will definitely be a grand cinematic experience.”
The film is based on the ‘The Third Battle of Panipat’ between the king of Afghanistan and the Maratha forces. The invading army of King of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Abdali was supported by the two Indian allies- the Rohilla Afghans of the Doab and Shuja-Ud-Daula, the Nawab of Awadh.
Sunita Gowariker and Rohit Shelatkar are bankrolling this historical drama which is slated to release on December 6, 2019.
