Ayushmann Khurrana to join hands with UNICEF against child abuse

Ayushmann Khurrana is considered as one of the most talented actors in Bollywood today. He has maintained a fine balance between critically acclaimed and commercially successful films.

The actor has given a number hits in the recent past. He has played a variety of roles and has even received a national award for his performance in Andhadhun.

He is all set to impress the audience with his upcoming film Bala where again he will be playing an unconventional role of a man suffering from premature baldness.

During a recent interview the actor spoke about the hardships that went into preparing for this role. He said there were two aspects to it. There was one physical challenge and there was also a challenge on emotional level.

Talking about the physical hardships Ayushmann said, “We were shooting during peak summers with temperature around 45°C in Lucknow, Kanpur. I had to wear three layers of prosthetics. It was physically very tough.”

Coming to the second aspect the actor said, “Second part is the empathy that you have to feel for the character. I have good hair growth so it is very important for me as a person to feel for the character who is struggling with the receding hairline or baldness. So there were two layers to it for me.”

The actor also said that the film has that empathy and motivating factor that will encourage people to accept themselves and be comfortable in their own skin. It is not just about baldness. It could be about height, weight or skin colour, he said.

Bala is a satirical comedy film that deals with the subject of premature balding and the societal pressure that comes with it. The film is directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan.

Ayushmann Khurrana stars as Bala, a man living in Kanpur who is suffering from alopecia, and the story is about his lack of confidence and societal pressure that comes with balding. Bhumi Pednekar, Yami Gautam, Javed Jaffrey, Seema Pahwa and Saurabh Shukla feature in supporting roles.

The film is slated to be released on 7 November.
