Varun Dhawan’s werewolf drama Bhediya was released in cinemas on Friday, November 25. Ever since the movie has been in the headlines, fans have been eagerly waiting for the horror comedy to release. Helmed by Amar Kaushik, the creature drama is a visual treat to the audience compared to the post-pandemic Bollywood releases.
‘Bhediya’ Movie Plot
Bhediya depicts the conflicts between humans and nature. The creature comedy will take you to the jungles of Arunachal Pradesh, where a building contractor Bhaskar, played by Varun Dhawan, has been assigned to construct a highway, right through the middle of the forest, that has social, religious and cultural significance for the localites.
Despite numerous warnings from the residents, Bhaskar and his cousin Guddu, played by Abhishek Banerjee, along with his friend Joe carry on with their plan. However, Bhaskar gets bit by a werewolf on a full moon night, which leads to his transformation into a monster.
The film showcases the protagonist’s struggle to protect the natives to get bitten by himself. On the other hand, Kriti Sanon plays the character of his veterinary doctor, Anika. After a few nights of transition into a monster, Bhaskar tries to control and free himself from the lycanthropy curse.
‘Bhediya’ Movie Direction & VFX
Stree famed director Amar Kaushik and writer Niren Bhatt tried to create another horror comedy to entertain the audience. The humour exchange between the characters, the comic timing of Abhishek Banerjee and Deepak Dobriyal, and the subtle romance between Varun and Kriti are nice elements put up by the director.
The VFX of the film is one of the best things that you have seen in recent times in Hindi cinema. Varun Dhawan’s transformation from a human to a monster on the 3D screen will give you goosebumps for sure. Further, the Thumkeshwari song is a treat to the eyes and a surprise to Shraddha Kapoor fans for her one-minute cameo.
Though the film has a unique plot, however, it can’t beat the 2018 OG Stree featuring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor.

Varun Dhawan starrer horror-comedy Bhediya has a good start with a decent amount of Rs 6 crores at the box office on Friday. The overall worldwide collection of the monster drama is Rs 12 crores on its first day. However, it jumped to Rs 9 crores on its second day, with an earning of Rs 16 crores worldwide.
Meanwhile, Bhediya is competing with Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 2 at the box office. While the former has just started its inning, the latter has crossed Rs 100 crore business in its second week.

The film is a good Bollywood entertainer for the year after failures like Rakshabandhan, Liger, Brahmastra, Ram Setu and Thank God. You get to see the intense avtar of Varun Dhawan after Badlapur. The humour and horror are the great elements in the film, with great visual effects for the Indian audience.
Overall, Bhediya is a power-packed entertainer of the month and worth watching on big screens. If you are a big Stree fan, then you must experience the horror-comedy in your nearby theatres.
