The Sky Is Pink was one of the most anticipated films of recent months. The film was based on a sensitive subject, was helmed by critically acclaimed Shonali Bose and moreover it marked the return of Priyanka Chopra in Bollywood after three years. She was last seen in Prakash Jha’s Jai Gangaajal.

The film received wide appreciation from the critics and the performances of the lead actors Farhan Akhtar and Priyanka Chopra were also praised. But all this appreciation does not reflect on the film’s collection at the box office.

According to a report on Box Office India, the film is heading for a 67% drop in the second week with collections set to be a little under 5 crore net. The report said the film managed some collections due to lack of competition. If there had been good releases the drop would have been 85-90%.

The Sky Is Pink opened to poor numbers and collected only Rs 2.5 crores on first day but managed to collect Rs 4 crore on its second day. The film’s collection was Rs 15 crore in its first week but it dropped sharply to Rs 4.7 crore in its second week.

On the other hand, Joker has done very well with collections of over Rs 63 crore. If it can get some collections after the third week it could become the highest grosser for a film released in English only. The film needs around 65 crore nett to become the highest grossing release in English only

Meanwhile, War has emerged as the highest grosser of the year and has collected over Rs 400 crore worldwide. It is also the tenth film to cross the 400 crore mark worldwide in Hindi.
