Priya Prakash Varrier has set ablaze to the internet ever since the first video of the movie Oru Adaar Love was released. With her million dollar wink and charm, she won over the hearts of millions and has been basking in the glory ever since. But unfortunately her song Manikya Malaraya Poovi has been slammed with a complaint in Hyderabad by a youth group of Farooq Nagar.
“When I first saw the viral video I fell in love it. I watched it so many times and shared it many times. I wanted to know the meaning of the song so I got the original Malayalam lyrics and translated it online and also took help of some people. I found that the song referred to the romance between the prophet and his wife Khadija. It is inappropriate and an insult to the prophet. I showed it our elders and we decided to lodge a complaint. I am not against the film or the actors. I am not against the film’s release also. We are only protesting against this song because it hurts sentiments of Muslims,” the complainant explained.
“Following the complaint, we took legal opinion and subsequently a case under IPC section 295A (hurting religious sentiments) has been registered against the film’s director, Omar Lulu,” Assistant Commissioner of Police (Falaknuma division) Syed Fayaz told PTI.
Reacting to this, the director of the movie said “it’s just a love song which doesn’t hurt any sentiments. All communities are singing the song and it will not be removed from the film, even if there is any pressure”.
Ever since the video, Priya Prakash Varrier has become an internet sensation with over six lakh followers on Instagram in just one day. Talking about her famous wink, the actress recently said in an interview that it was totally spontaneous and she never thought that video clip would become such a hit. “Actually, the director wanted to capture something cute between me and my hero. So he told me if I can do the eyebrow thing and wink at him. I told him that I could give it a try. That’s how it worked out. It was spontaneous and we hadn’t planned anything,” Priya told NDTV
She is the third celebrity to gain such a mammoth number of followers in one day, with only American model -TV personality Kylie Jenner and legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of her.
