The actress Deepika Padukone who was last seen as the most beautiful queen that ever lived in India in her last film ‘Padmaavat’ is all set to be seen as a disfigured embodier in her upcoming film ‘Chhapaak‘. In the film, Deepika will be playing the role of an acid-attack survivor and the film is based on the real story of Laxmi Agarwal. ‘Chhapaak’ is helmed by Meghna Gulzar and will mark the productional debut of Deepika.
Today, Deepika took to his Twitter to share the first look of her film and wrote, “A character that will stay with me forever…#Malti Shoot begins today!#Chhapaak Releasing-10th January 2020. @meghnagulzar @foxstarhindi @masseysahib”.
Laxmi survived an acid attack at the age of 15. She was attacked by a man and his two friends because she refused to marry the former one. Since the incident, Laxmi is working to stop the sale of acid and has founded an organization against acid violence and the sale of acid called ‘Stop Sale Acid’.
In 2014, Laxmi was presented International Women of Courage award by the US First Lady Michelle Obama.
The film’s shooting begins today in Delhi and is slated to hit the theatres on January 10, 2020.
