Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, and Juhi Chawla starrer ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ released last week with mixed reviews from the audience. The film completed its first weekend in the theatres and much to everyone’s surprise the Rajkumar Rao starrer had a flat weekend.
The film exploring “The most Unexpected Romance of the year!” is a homosexual love story of Sonam Kapoor and South Indian actress Regina Cassandra.
The light rom-com earned above ₹3 crores on its first day and it witnessed growth on the second and third day as well. It managed to earn ₹4.65 crores on Saturday and ₹5.58 crores on Sunday. The film’s total business reached up to ₹13.53 crores in the domestic market.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the film’s earning on this twitter handle. He wrote, “#EkLadkiKoDekhaTohAisaLaga finds limited patronage… Plexes of select metros witnessed growth over the weekend, but the overall total is low.”

According to the Box Office India, “The collections on Sunday were pretty much flat as families were never going to be interested in this sort of content even though from one angle you can call it a family film.”
This one was the third film of the duo Anil Kapoor and Vidhu Vinod Chopra, which makes it their third flop film together. It is like a hattrick which took 30 years to complete. The two had worked mutually in ‘Parinda’, and ‘1942: A Love Story’.
The film brings homosexuality to the mainstream cinema. The movie is captivating as it deals a progressive theme with great humor and emotional intelligence.
‘ELKDTHL’ isn’t just about the same-sex relationship but also talks about the communalism and freedom to choose one’s career. The movie is impactful, important, well-intended with a good entertainment factor and great performances by the leading actors.
