After dropping the teaser around a week ago, the makers of the upcoming Netflix anthology Ghost Stories have finally released the trailer today. The two minutes eighteen seconds long video gives us a glimpse into the four segments directed by filmmakers Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar, and Dibakar Banerjee.

The trailer looks promising interspersed with spooky and chilling moments. It starts with a wedding scene of actors Avinash Tiwary and Mrunal Thakur and moves to the shot of a big beautiful bungalow that looks isolated and scary. We then see the two actors engaged in an intimate moment. Then suddenly, Tiwary turns around on hearing a sound and addresses his grandmother. He talks to his granny and asks his wife to say Good night to her. Bewildered Thakur asks him to whom should she say good night as there is no one.

The trailer segues to more intriguing scenes. A pregnant Sobhita Dhulipala appears feeding a doll. A kid asks his father (not shown in the trailer, maybe imagined?) if her aunt (Dhulipala) would stop loving him after delivering her own baby. Dhulipala seems to have an interesting character. She is also shown playing with broken eggs while the crows are screaming in the background.

The scene that stands out in the trailer comes after this. A kid wearing a helmet tells a man in the night that if he wants to live then he has to turn off his torch light. “No matter what you see, don’t run. When I tell you run, run.” As the man starts approaching the kid, the kid shouts “Run” and flees himself.

Overall it is an interesting trailer. Just one thing, the background sound was a little too loud and disturbing.

Produced by RSVP Movies and Flying Unicorn Entertainment, Ghost Stories is touted to be the sequel of the 2013 and 2018 films – Bombay Talkies and Lust Stories respectively. Both the films were directed by the same set of four directors with Lust Stories receiving a nomination for International Emmy Award for Best TV Movie or Miniseries

The film will premiere on 1 January 2020 on Netflix. Besides the above-mentioned actors, the film also features Surekha Sikri, Janhvi Kapoor, Kusha Kapila, Gulshan Devaiah, Raghuvir Yadav, Vijay Varma and Pavail Gulati.
