Aishwarya Rai is one of the most beautiful and famous actress of all time in the Hindi film industry.

She recently turned a year older. Celebrating her 45th birthday, we take a look at nine of her most remarkable films from her successful career that won the audiences hearts.

  1. Jeans (1998) – Directed by S. Shankar, the romantic comedy saw Aishwarya play the role of a character with two names. It was the most expensive Indian film at that time with a whooping budget of 20 crores. ‘Jeans’ was India’s official submission for the Oscars in the foreign category, but was not nominated.

2. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) – The film is now famous for the reason to spark a relationship between Aishwarya and Salman. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, it won seven Filmfare Awards from 11 nominations and was a major success.

 

3. Mohabbatein (2003) – The second directorial venture by Aditya Chopra, the film co-starred Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. It proved to be a major critical and commercial success and catapulted Aishwarya’s career and earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

4. Devdas (2002) – The second collaboration between Bhansali and Aishwarya, the film was based on the famous Bengali novel by Sharad Chandra Chattopadhyay. Aishwarya played the role of Paro, the love interest of the title character. ‘Devdas’ was a massive critical and commercial success and garnered several awards including the National Award and Filmfare.

5. Bride and Prejudice (2004) – Directed by Gurinder Chadha, it was Aishwarya’s film English film. Adopted from the namesake novel by Jane Austen, the film was released across the United States and United Kingdom.

6. Raincoat (2004) – Directed by Rituparno Ghosh, this slow burn beautiful story was adapted from O’Henry’s short fiction The Gift of the Magi and earned her praises for her performance and a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

7. Dhoom 2 (2006) – The second installment in the ‘Dhoom’ franchise, the film starred Aishwarya, Hrithik and her future husband Abhishek Bachchan in the lead roles. Known for its stylised heist scenes, the film was a critical and commercial hit.

8. Guru (2007) – Directed by Mani Ratnam, the film starred Aishwarya and Abhishek just on the brink of their real life marriage. It was inspired by the life of Industrialist Dhirubhai Ambani. The film met with strong critical response and was a box-office hit.

9. Enthiran (2010) – One of the most commercially successful career of Aishwarya’s career, the Tamil science fiction saw her reuniting with her ‘Jeans’ director S. Shankar and shared the screen space with Rajinikanth.
