Bollywood actress Ileana D’Cruz is gearing up for her upcoming movie titled ‘Baadshaho‘, which is written by Rajat Arora and directed by Milan Luthria. The movie will revolve around six badasses set in the emergency period of 1975 when they looted a truck full of gold. The movie features Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Esha Gupta, Ileana D’Cruz and Vidyut Jammwal in the lead roles.
In the movie ‘Baadshaho’, actress Ileana D’ Cruz will be seen playing a role of a queen in a royal family of Rajasthan and she says that some scenes in the movie were shot in the filthy prison and that added to her performance. About her character in the movie, Ileana says, “My character Geetanjali is based on a real character from Rajasthan’s royal family. I found the character very interesting, so was the shooting process. As my character goes through a journey, various emotional ups and down points of them, one of the memorable shooting experiences was during the shoot in a filthy jail.” She added, “It was quite a suffocating space where we shot. Interestingly, my character was also going through a suffocating phase of her life in the film. So I think shooting in the filthy prison added to my performance in the film. Oh, God… There was some weird stink… But the whole atmosphere added some authenticity to the character.”
The movie which is set back in 1975, during the time of the Emergency and the movie will revolve around a royal family that how their property and tons of gold were looted by the government and Geetanjali (Character played by Ileana D’Cruz) will struggle to rescue the gold, with the help of some of her close subordinates.
Ileana’s character in the movie is very rare and she portraying that is quite close to her personality. She said, “You know, Geetanjali (her character name in the film) goes through a lot of troubles without losing her cool because she is a strong woman, sure in her head about what she wants and how she will get that. There are some similarities in my journey too. Fortunately, I have a very good upbringing that makes me a strong person, I know what I want from life and I never settled for less.”
However, Ileana is not from a film family but she still tries to manage to find a way to see the potential of a good script for her. Ileana says, “Either you like or dislike a story when you hear it… That is very instinctive. But when it comes to the relevance of my role in the film, I take that character away from the story and see if still the story looks complete without that character. If not, then is it an important character of the story that I am being offered? Then only, I say ‘yes’ to a film.”
Her last movie “Mubarakan” was turned out to be a Blockbuster hit, where she played the role of a quirky character and now her new character ‘Geetanjali’ is polar opposite of that which she played in Mubarakan and that is why she says she is feeling lot of pressure to get an acceptance in such a role.
Talking about the movie “Baadshaho”, which will revolve around six badasses set in the emergency period of 1975 when they looted a truck full of gold. It is the backdrop of 1975 Emergency that has made us wonder why so many filmmakers are looking at this subject. However, the movie Baadshaho does not claim to be inspired from true incidents but sure does promise an exciting journey of six people who are charged with robbery of gold worth millions, and of course a lot of action.
The film is scheduled for September 1 release.
