There are a lot of films which deal with the problems an individual faces in their life. All these films come up with a different subject altogether and depression which is the major problem in today’s world remains just as a sub-theme. While, in the west, there have been many films over the years which talk about depression, fear of missing out, and many such mental conditions a human being goes through in these times. But today we will be introducing you all to a film which perfectly explains depression and its causes in detail

There’s a beautiful dialogue in the Marathi film Kaasav which goes as, “I am the sole person who is responsible for my happiness, no one else is responsible for the joy of my life.” This gives a clear idea that the film is all about self-discovery and different definitions of happiness, how it varies from person to person. This film follows the story of a woman who’s in the process of recovering from depression, she has almost recovered due to her treatment and during which she comes across a young boy who’s suffering this mental trauma and she decides to get him out of it.

A still from Kaasav

The film defines how peer pressure, ignorance in the family can lead to such problems but it also provides a solution that is easy to say but quite difficult to follow. But the film definitely gives new hope and has raised a topic of mental health among the society which is seemingly ignored by people even today. Directed by Sumitra Bhave and Sunil Sukthankar, the film stars Iravati Harshe, Mohan Agashe, Alok Rajwade, and Kishor Kadam.

The film beautifully creates a parallel plot defining the story of human beings through the lifecycle of turtles and their nesting process. This film is a must-watch!
