Marjaavan, starring Siddharth Shukla, Riteish Deshmukh and Tara Sutaria and directed by Milap Zaveri, was released on November 15 2019. It collected a decent 7.03 crores on its first day, with the mass multiplexes showing impressive numbers, while its doing average business at Metro theaters.
Marjaavaan is a revenge thriller about a man named Raghu, played by Siddharth Malhotra who gets into a war with a villainous dwarf, Vishnu, played by Riteish Deshmukh. Tara Sutaria plays the role of Siddharth’s love interest.
The movie got mixed to negative reviews from critics, who criticized its weak script and direction by Zaveri. Siddharth was also mocked for his acted, but Riteish got credit for his performance. Milap Zaveri’s previous movie, Satyameva Jayate, starring John Abraham also got bad reviews but was a box office hit and it seems that even though it doesn’t have cinematic merit, people will enjoy it for the entertainment value.
Siddharth Malhotra’s previous screen outing, Jabariya Jodi, with Parineeti Chopra was a financial disappointment. This is Tara Sutaria’s second role, after she starred in Student of the year 2 which failed to replicate the box office returns of the original movie, which, coincidentally, was the launch for Siddharth’s acting career. But it finally looks like the two stars have a decent hit on their hand and it could be useful for their future movie prospects as well.
