After seeing a healthy first week,  Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh, Tara Sutaria, and Rakul Preet Singh starrer Marjaavaan saw a sharp drop in its collection on its second Friday. According to a report on Box Office India, the film collected only Rs 1 crore on Friday while it collected around Rs 2.53 crore on Thursday – a fall of more than 50 percent.

The film started seeing a fall in its collection after the first weekend itself. While it collected Rs 10.18 crore on Sunday, the collection fell to Rs 4.15 crore on Monday. It again fell to Rs 3.61 crore on Tuesday. It did not see much drop on Wednesday with a collection of Rs 3.16 crore. But it again saw a drop in its business on Thursday and collected Rs 2.53 crore. The film’s total domestic box office collection of eight days stands at Rs 38.87 crore.

The film was doing well in mass centers and has lost most most of the collecting screens due to the release of John Abraham starrer Pagalpanti. The film was not doing very well at the bigger multiplexes therefore it was supposed to have limited acreenings there in week two.

Released on 15th November, Marjaavaan has received mixed to negative reviews from the movie critics. The film has been panned for its weak script and poor direction. The only positive thing said about the film is Riteish Deishmukh’s performance as a vertically challenged antagonist.

The music of the film has been well received by the audience. The people are enjoying the songs especially Ek Toh Kam Zindagani featuring Nora Fatehi which has crossed millions of views on YouTube. Haiya Ho featuring Rakul Preet has also been doing very well. However, both the songs are recreated versions of old songs from 1980s films Janbaaz and Dayavan. The original songs Tum Hi Aana and Thodi Jagah  have become everyone’s favourite numbers.

Coming back to the movie, Marjaavaan is a powerful mass action love story with the highlight being the battle between Sidharth and Riteish’s character. While Riteish plays a dwarf villain, Sidharth plays a lover boy. The co-producer Bhushan Kumar described the film as “a violent, dramatic love story”.

Written and directed by Milap Zaveri, Marjaavaan is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Divya Khosla Kumar, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, Nikkhil Advani.
