There is a popular saying that ‘Music is the food for the soul’. This is indeed true, as music enriches our lives like no other. To celebrate it and the artists who create it, the MTV Music Video Awards 2020 are coming soon. They’ve released the list of nominees, with Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande dominating the list.

The pop stars song “Rain On Me” gave fetched them 9 nominations each. This includes video of the year, song of the year, best collaboration, best pop, best cinematography, best visual effects and best choreography.

In the running for the video of the year category, other artists in the foray are The Weeknd (for Blinding Lights) and Billie Eilish (for everything i wanted) Taylor Swift (for The Man), Future & Drake (for the Life Is Good) and Eminem (for Godzilla) which also features late rapper Juice WRLD are the other nominees for the award.

The event will take place live, on 30 August at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New York. All safety procedures will be followed, to ensure the event takes place smoothly. Further, two new categories are also introduced this year – best music video from home and best quarantine performance.

These two new categories, were created as part of a new concept during the pandemic. The Best music video from home nominees are Drake (Toosie Slide) Grande and Justin Bieber (Stuck With U), John Legend (Bigger Love), 5 Seconds Of Summer ( Wildflower), Blink 182 (Happy Days) and Twenty One Pilots (Level Of Concern).

On the other hand, R&B duo Chloe x Halle are nominated for best quarantine performance. Their song ‘Do It’, which created huge craze amongst the people is in running. Others in the category are Lady Gaga ( Smile) John Legend (#togetherathome concert) and Post Malone’s tribute to Nirvana among others.
