American actor Peter Sarsgaard has been cast in an undisclosed role for Matt Reeves upcoming Batman film starring Robert Pattinson. The director tweeted the news this Friday with a gif image of Sarsgaard and a bat emoji.

The film stars Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Colin Farrell as Penguin, John Turturro as crime boss Carmine Falcone, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon and Andy Serkis as butler Alfred.

According to Variety report, the role of district attorney-turned-villain Harvey Dent a.k.a Two Face. remains unfilled and chances are that Sarsgaard has been cast for this role.

He had last played the role of journalist Walter Duranty in Agnieszka Holland’s drama film Mr. Jones and will be next seen in Human Capital and Harry Haft

In May this year, Pattinson was official cast in the title role in the film which has been called by Reeves as an original story and not an origin story like Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins. The shooting for Reeve’s Batman film had started earlier this year after Ben Affleck would not be returning to play the caped crusader. The film is scheduled to hit the theaters on 25 June, 2021.
