After the release of the country-wide superhit Padmaavat, 32-year-old Indian actor Ranveer Singh is ready to begin filming for his upcoming movie Simmba. The movie’s director Rohit Shetty has announced that even though Simmba can be broadly classified as a remake of the 2015 South-Indian hit movie ‘Temper’, the 2018 movie is actually very loosely inspired from the former’s plot.

Shooting for Simmba is expected to commence from the next month, and be up and running on theatres by 28th December 2018. Following the story of a rowdy cop, played by none other than Ranveer Singh himself, the movie is also set to have Bollywood actor Sonu Sood and popular actress Sara Ali Khan in other lead roles.

In a recent conversation with the protagonist, Ranveer has expressed his excitement at being a part of Simmba under the direction of the famous director Rohit Shetty himself. Ranveer regards himself as a very lucky actor who has come across an incredible opportunity to star in a film of the ‘masala’ genre with Rohit Shetty, whom he addresses as ‘king of the genre’.

The actor appears ready to begin preparing for the shooting at the earliest notice with a spark of encouragement from the director himself. According to Ranveer, director Rohit Shetty was very keen on getting Ranveer to build big muscles in order to acquire an appropriate physique, fitting his role of the police officer.

A quote taken from Ranveer’s statement regarding Rohit Shetty’s intention – “Jab [Ranveer] wardi pehenega na, toh wardi phatni chahiye”.
