On the work front, Shahid was last seen playing the role of a self-destructive alcoholic lover in Sandeep Vanga Reddy’s ‘Kabir Singh’, co-starring Kiara Advani.
The film, a remake of the 2017 Telugu film ‘Arjun Reddy’, met with mixed critical response who criticized its glamorization of toxic masculinity and misogyny. It, however, proved to be his biggest commercial success as a sole lead.
Shahid is currently preparing for the role of a cricketer for the Hindi remake of 2019 Telugu sports drama ‘Jersey.’

Recently it was announced that he will be cast again in the sequel to Vishal Bhardwaj’s 2009 film ‘Kaminey’, titled ‘Maha Kaminey.’
