Get ready to board the Magic School Bus for a trip to cinema screens. The animated TV show which ran from 1994 to 1997 is getting a feature film adaptation. Actor, Elizabeth Banks is headlining the film as the lead. Scholastic Entertainment announced this news on June, 25.

The Magic School Bus was based on a group of school children, who boarded the yellow bus and travelled to the most unique places. Their adventures included travels to places such as outer space and the human digestive system.

A series of books written by Joanna Cole and illustrated by Bruce Degen, were made into a tv show. In the original cartoon, Lilly Tomlin provided the voice for the lead character Ms Frizzle. While, Kate McKinnon, voiced the character in Netflix’s reboot of the show. The Netflix reboot was titled ‘The Magic School Bus Rides Again.’

The companies backing the film are Scholastic Entertainment, Brownstone Productions, Marc Platt Productions and Universal Pictures.

Till now, only Elizabeth Banks is announced as the science teacher in its cast. Further announcement regarding the release date and other cast members will be revealed soon.
