The SC has found evidence of serious failings by the Crown Resorts in implementing its responsible gambling code of conduct.

The Victoria’s royal commission was holding the inquiry into Crown Resorts’ failing into responsible gambling. The inquiry found that the resort has not been able to limit the harm suffered by gambling addicts in its casinos.

The inquiry revealed that, despite having money and technology to do more to limit the harm caused by gambling addiction, the operator lacked motivation to take steps. This grossly violates gambling code of conduct.

As per Gambling Insider, counsel assisting the inquiry Adrian Finanzio, said: “Some of the measures outlined as areas for proposed changes concern practices of Crown which have been for a long time obviously inconsistent with fostering responsible gaming.”

“In other words, the letter promises to stop things which, on one view, should never have been happening in the first place. The changes now proposed amount to an implied admission that some of Crown’s practices, some quite recent practices, are inconsistent with the responsible service of gaming.”

The evidence indicates that Crown Melbourne’s customers were at increased risk of gambling harm as compared to customers at different venues.
