Expressing concern over fragmented legislations, the Zambian Government has decided to the regulator for gaming and lottery industry.

One of the Province Permanent Secretary announced that the committee has already been established to re-look the current legislation in order to harmonise the same so as to establish single regulator for entire gambling operations.

As per Gambling Insider, North-Western Province Permanent Secretary Willies Mangimela said: “As you may be aware the government has noted with concern that the current legislations for the gaming and lotteries sector in the country are fragmented, resulting in loss of revenue to the government,” said Mangimela.

“It is my hope that this process will culminate into responsive legislation that will enable the Ministry of Finance to harmonize and establish a regulator of gaming and lotteries in Zambia.”

The committee is already in process of drafting policy and guidelines to regulate both physical and online gaming and lotteries in the country. With current legislation having certain issues, various other stakeholders have come forward to provide useful suggestions.
