Addressing a press briefing on Monday in Bilaspur (Himachal Pradesh), BJP’s working president Jagat Prakash Nadda apprised the media that party’s current strength is now at the tally of 17.50 crore members.

He informed that a whopping total of 6 crore new members joined the saffron party in the last 54 days. The leader said that in the latest drive of membership, the party has been successful in increasing the member’s strength from 11 crores to 17.50 crore since June-July.

On being asked about the success of the party’s membership drive, JP Nadda said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s policies and welfare measures have contributed a lot to the cause. Repeal of Article 370 was also attributed as a commanding factor by the leader.

BJP started its membership campaign on 6 July on Shyama Prasad Mookherjee’s birth anniversary. The program’s deadline was 11 August but due to the massive success of the drive, the window to enroll was increased up to 20 August.

Speaking on the event, Nadda also praised Himachal’s unit for succeeding in raising its primary membership by 9.56 lakh members. JP Nadda also applauded the state unit’s efforts for increasing the number of its active members from 30000 to 40000.
