Delhi’s AAP government has asked the principal secretaries and secretaries demanding details of their directly hired contractual employees and the ones outsourced through contractors.
The Delhi Labour Department has written to all the head of departments(HODs) “providing performa for furnishing information”, reported PTI.
An official from the department confirmed, “The Labour Department has asked HODs to provide details of contractual employees, including their name, designation and monthly wages.”
“Apart from this, they have been asked to also furnish details of outsourced employees engaged through contractors,” the official added.
The message sent to the principal secretaries and secretaries from the Labour Department was, “You (HODs) are requested to ensure that the required information in the prescribed format is sent to Labour department on email [email protected] also through hard copy latest by August 6.”
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had last month ordered the officials to execute many proposals including “regularisation of contractual employees”, reported PTI.
This direction by the Labour Department has come next day after the Delhi Assembly passed a resolution in the House ordering the North Delhi Municipal Corporation(NDMC), South Delhi Municipal Corporation(SDMC) and East Delhi (EDMC) to make the employment of sanitation workers permanent.
The BJP-ruled municipal corporations’ commissioners were instructed to “regularise the services of contractual sanitation workers” by the principal secretary of the Labour Department and the director of local outfits on the direction of Satyendar Jain, Delhi Urban Development Minister on April 5.
