KOLKATA, WEST BENGAL, INDIA - 2016/12/02: Trinamool Congress MLAs and Minister marched to Raj Bhavan from state assembly and stage sit in outside to protest against army presence at toll plazas in West Bengal and demanding immediate withdrawal of it. The group could not meet Governor K. N. Tripathi to submit memorandum as he is in New Delhi. (Photo by Saikat Paul/Pacific Press/LightRocket via Getty Images)

6 Trinamool MLAs took a stand against Meira Kumar and decided not to vote for her in the presidential election. They had a valid reason for not supporting her. As she is part of Congress and enjoys CPI(M) support, which they want to abolish from their state in the next elections. But before they could do anything, five out of six MLAs were suspended from the party for defying Mamata Banerjee‘s support to Meira Kumar. Partha Chatterji, Trinamool Congress General Secretary, made this announcement of suspension and sent a letter to the state unit. As the state unit did not receive the letter, there no clue of who has been excused from suspension.

MLAs are agitated by this decision, as they have reportedly said that Mamata Banerjee who supports Anti-left policy, was supporting Meira Kumar. She never discussed this matter with them in Tripura. They said that this decision is tyrannical and they will ask her to re-think about her decision.
