In a surprising move to bring State Special Status issue to the Centre Stage before the last Parliament Session, TDP Chief and Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu has called an all-party meeting on January 30, Tomorrow to discuss the Special Status issue and incomplete implementation on Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

TDP Chief made a decision after having a teleconference call with other TDP Leaders on Tuesday Morning.

Chandrababu Naidu who has plans to sit on a day-long Deeksha in New Delhi when Parliament is in session to expose the alleged non-cooperation of the Centre, has decided to hold the meeting to send a message that his government is taking the Opposition parties into confidence to mount pressure on the BJP government in Centre for fulfilment of bifurcation promises.

‘All the parties in the state should come together in order to increase the pressure on Delhi and to safeguard the rights of 5 crores people of Andhra. TDP is fighting relentlessly against the Centre,” Naidu said.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister added “Centre should at least give 1.16 lakh crores to the state for its development. Though we had written several letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he repeatedly neglected us. We should now launch a more severe protest for the Injustice being done against people living in Andhra Pradesh’.

He while concluding said his party will continue to fight with the Central government until their demands are met.

This is the third all-party meeting being held by Naidu to fight with the Centre for the Special Status Issue. The Bhartiya Janta Party, YSR Congress and Jana Sena which boycotted the two previous meetings, are unlikely to attend the meeting on Wednesday.

TDP Members in recently concluded Winter Session of Parliament has made several protests outside and within the house demanding special status to the State. However, Centre has clearly ruled out the possibilities of granting Special Status to Andhra Pradesh.

During the Winter Session, on December 18, Central Government while replying to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) member Kanakamedala Ravindrakumar in the Rajya Sabha reasserted that it had already allotted special package to the state. In a written reply to TDP member Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar, the Centre asserted that it was not possible to grant special status in Andhra Pradesh as it had already allotted special package, as a substitute to special status, to the state.

The Centre also cited the 14th Finance Commission and said that the report did not allow it to grant SCS to Andhra Pradesh.

PM Modi who slated to visit the state in early January had to postpone his visit amidst protest by TDP Members.
