Gearing up for the forthcoming by-polls, Congress party announced the name of its chosen candidates on Sunday. The by-polls will be held on October 21 and the results will be declared on October 24. A total of 63 assembly seats and 1 Lok Sabha seat will go to the elections.
For Gujarat by-polls, the party has selected the following candidates.
- Gulansinh Pirabhai Rajput- Tharad
- Patel Jasubhai Shivabhai- Bayad
- Dharmendrabhai Shantilal Patel- Amraiwadi
- Chauhan Gulabsinh Somsinh- Lunawada
- Shri Raghubhai Desai- Radhanpur
- Shri Thakor Babuji Ujamji- Kheralu

Interim President of the party, Sonia Gandhi also approved the candidature of following names in the upcoming by-polls of Bihar, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
- Smt. Sayeeda Banu- Kishanganj (Bihar)
- Ms. Rita Chaudhary- Mandawa (Rajasthan)
- Shri Harendra Mirdha- Khinswar (Rajasthan)
- Smt. Mannu Devi- Balha-SC (Uttar Pradesh)
Dr. Ashok Kumar has been selected as the party’s candidate from Samastipur Lok Sabha seat in Bihar.

For Kerala by-polls, the following candidates have been selected by the party.
- TJ Vinod- Ernakulam
- Adv. Shanimol Osman- Aroor
- P Mohanrajan- Konni
- Dr. K Mohan Kumar- Vattiyoorkavu
In another release, the party also cleared the name of Shri Ruby Manoharan from Nanguneri constituency in Tamil Nadu and Shri Batyngshain Laitmon Ryngnga from Shella (ST) constituency in Meghalaya.
