The Ministry of Defense has demanded 20,000 crores more in the budget from the centre on Wednesday. This demand arises amidst the dispute between India and China borders. Ministry has said that the army should be prepared for at least 10 days of war. This demand has come at a time when there is constant consternation between India and China.

This year, the defense budget center was given Rs. 2,74,113 crore which is only about 1.6 percent of the total GDP. In this budget, only 6 percent increase was made compared to the previous budget. Therefore, the Defense Ministry has demanded around 20,000 crores more from the government for the preparation of the war. About half of the defense budget has already been received by the Defense Minister and about one-third of it has already been spent. in purchasing weapons by the army’s vice-chief.

Earlier, a report was issued by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) stating that the army is only left with ammunition as much as to fight for just 10 days. Immediately after this, the army has shown emergency in purchasing the arms. Prior to the 1999 war, India had to keep ammunition as much as to last for 40 days of war, which was reduced to 20 days after the war.
