Another MLC gave his resignation from Samajwadi Party headed by Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday on the grounds of the treatment given to Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Including the recent one, a total of 4 MLCs have resigned from the party in past one month. MLC Ashok Bajpai today resigned from the UP Legislative Council saying that “I am tendering my resignation from the Council membership. I am peeved at the treatment meted to ‘Netaji’ (Mulayam Singh Yadav) in the party.”

MLC Dr. Sarojini Agarwal had also resigned from SP explaining that I had been party MLC twice due to Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav). As he is not active in the party, I have resigned. I don’t have problems with anyone in the party and I respect everyone. I felt awkward after the split in the party and I did not feel like working in it,”

All the other MLCs who quit earlier have joined BJP and Ashok is likely to follow their suit and join BJP. The resignation of five MLCs including (four of the SP and one BSP) is being seen as a tactful move played by BJP in order to pave way for Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath along with four of his ministers who have to appear for the either of the two houses to retain their ministerial post.
