Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari administered the oath of office to Shivsena rebel leader Eknath Shinde was on Thursady. Shinde sworn-in as the 20th Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
Shinde has become the 20th Chief Minister of the state.
While BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis was sworn-in as Deputy Chief Minister. Fadnavis became the Deputy Chief Minister after BJP President JP Nadda asked him to be part of the government and take up the Deputy Chief Minister’s post. Nadda said, BJP’s central leadership has decided that Devendra Fadnavis should become a part of the Govt. So, made a personal request to him and the Central leadership has said that Devendra Fadnvais should take charge as Deputy CM of Maharashtra”.

Home Minister Amit Shah has said that BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis has decided to join the Maharashtra Government on the request of BJP President JP Nadda. In a tweet, Shah said, “On the behest of BJP President Shri @JPNadda ji, Shri @Dev_Fadnavis ji has taken a big heart and decided to join the government in the interest of the state of Maharashtra and the people.This decision is a sign of his true loyalty and service towards Maharashtra. For this I heartily congratulate him.”

Meanwhile, BJP President JP Nadda said, “BJP decided to support Eknath Shinde ji, showing a big heart for the betterment of the people of Maharashtra. Shri Devendra Fadnavis ji has also decided to join the cabinet with a big heart, which shows his attachment towards the people of Maharashtra.”
The Prime Minister congratulated Eknath Shinde on becoming CM of Maharashtra, he tweeted, “I would like to congratulate Shri @mieknathshinde Ji on taking oath as Maharashtra CM. A grassroots level leader, he brings with him rich political, legislative and administrative experience. I am confident that he will work towards taking Maharashtra to greater heights.”
