Arun Jaitley, Union Minister for Finance and Defence, files another defamation plea against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. This time he filed the case on the charges of insulting remarks made by Kejriwal’s lawyer, Ram Jethmalani during cross examination of the first defamation suit. Jaitley has demanded for another ₹10 crore as damages for the insulting remarks and litigation cost from Kejriwal.

Jaitley has accused Kejriwal for instructing his lawyer to forcefully use defamatory remarks like ‘crook’ against him. He has even accused Kejriwal’s lawyer Jethmalani of subjecting him to numerous questions, terminologies and statements that are abusive, malicious, offensive, irrelevant and slanderous, all on Kejriwal’s instructions. As per the suit filed, when the joint registrar, presiding over the court, questioned Jethmalani, whether he was instructed by Kejriwal to use defamatory remarks against Jaitley like ‘crook’, Jethmalani replied “yes.”

Arun Jaitley earlier also filed a suit against Kejriwal and other AAP leaders including Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh, Kumar Vishwas, Raghav Chadha and Deepak Bajpai over certain statements against him, which he claimed were false and defamatory. In this suit too Jaitley demanded for ₹10 crore for damages. This suit is at the cross examination stage. Ram Jaithmalani is cross examining Jaitley and his witnesses.

For the recent suit filed against Kejriwal, he will have to file his response by 26 July, when the case is up for hearing again according to the orders passed by Joint Registrar, Pankaj Gupta.
