Mukesh Sahni, who is the head of the newly-floated Vikassheel Insaan Party on Sunday declared at a press conference that he is joining the Mahagathbandhan.

Sahni, however, was offered a Lok Sabha seat in Bihar by NDA.

Sources have told that Sahni’s meeting with RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav at Delhi airport on Saturday evening changed his mind. Sahni told the media that the fate of 14% people, ie Nishads was decided 30,000 ft above the ground as Tejashwi Yadav made him speak to  Rahul Gandhi and the deal was sealed in the Delhi-Patna flight.

On Sunday, Sahni joined UPA in the presence of Yadav and RLSP’s Upendra Kushwaha who recently left NDA and joined the grand alliance.

Sahni revealed that he got a call from Bihar BJP Chief Nityanand Rai, who was accompanied by Amit Shah. Sahni said that he was offered three seats by BJP but he refused.

The Vikasheel Insaan Party was launched in November this year in Patna. Sahni, who is popularly known as “son of Mallah”, has been organizing rallies across Bihar to unite the Nishad community and also demanded reservation for Nishads under the SC/ST category.

He told the media, “I am satisfied with the discussion I had with Rahul Ji and Tejashwi Ji.”

He claimed that he chose the grand alliance because it would give the due to the Nishad community.
