Due to the anti-party activities and revolt against the party’s leader, Chief Minister of Nagaland, Shurhozelie Liezietsu, dismissed four ministers, 10 parliamentary secretaries and two advisers from the Naga People’s Front (NPF).He also said that he is deeply pained by the recent disturbing developments affecting the normal functioning of the government. The NPF-led DAN government will complete its full term and he has made an appeal to the people of the state to remain calm.

The former chief minister and chairman of Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) TR Zeliang was one of them. All of them wanted Shurhozelie Liezietsu to resign so that Zeliang can take back his position.

Zeliang has sent a letter to the Government taking his claim to form a government with the support of 41 out of the 59 MLAs in the assembly. He also held a meeting at his residence with 34 members of NPF’s legislature party who extended support to him to continue as the leader of the legislature party. He further said that the council of the minister under Shurhozelie Liezietsu has reduced to a minority.

The dissent against Shurhozelie brewed after he appointed his son as an adviser and Zeliang wanted to get back into power but Shurhozelie’s contesting the election has indicated that he is not going to give up the post of chief ministership.
