Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a tour to Rajasthan, On Tuesday he visited Udaipur and inaugurated a number of projects there.

Narendra Modi inaugurated several road projects here including the inauguration of Hanging Bridge and performed the rituals for laying the foundation for quite a few projects in Udaipur. Prior to inaugurating the road projects Modi also saw an exhibition here and then addressed the rally.

The Prime Minister began his address to the gathering of the people in the native language of Rajasthan. He began his speech in Rajasthani, paying respect and remembering the great warriors of the state. Referring to the recent problems faced by Rajasthan due to the floods Modi said that he had personally taken account of the situations in the flood hit areas of the state and assured that the Central government is always standing shoulder to shoulder with the state government providing all the possible help to the state.

Appreciating the bold step taken by the Vasundhara Raje-led Rajasthan government, he said that it s a big day for the state as the beginning of schemes worth Rs 15,000 crore is a big achievement. Indirectly pointing at the opposition party Congress, Modi said that the Rajasthan government had done what it said. Unlike the others who only made big promises during the election campaigns, announcing plans and publishing large photographs in newspapers, these are old games and the country has been seeing this for a long time.

Further attacking the previous government Modi said that it takes a lot of strength to clean up the mess created earlier and it is like a challenge for the government. He further added that the previous governments have created such commotions that it is increasing the problems now. If there would have been a weak person he would be sacred and would have left by now. But he is not a weakling to give up. Instead, it is his habit to challenge the challenges Modi said.

Taking a toll on Congress Modi said that projects worth just Rs 300 crore were pending from past 11 years and now under the rule of Vasundhara Raje the government had announced projects worth Rs 5600 crore which are being completed. Mockingly he said that the difference between people and the party ruling is the main reason which decides the development of any state. He further added that till now Rajasthan government was only completing the left overs of the previous government which consumed a lot of strength and capital of the ruling party. BJP at Rajasthan had simultaneously begun the work worth Rs 9000 crore he added.

Modi said that the previous governments always ran from taking big projects, but the current government in Rajasthan took up the challenge of completing these pending projects and the results of them will be seen in the long run. Talking about the golden quadrilateral, Modi said that everyone had praised the initiative taken and completed by former Prime Minister Atal Bihar Vajpayee of building the golden quadrilateral joining the four Metro cities in India. He said that such initiatives always benefit the people especially the farmers.

Addressing the rally Narendra Modi said that Rajasthan has the potential of generating an extreme amount of cash, people from all across the world want to come to the state and for this, it is very important to have a good infrastructure. He added that if the tourism in the state increases it will also benefit the small workers like flower vendors and tea sellers. He added that the current government is constructing double the number of roads and rail tracks made by the previous government.

Criticising the UPA government for taking more than 10 years in constructing the hanging bridge over Chambal river in Kota, Narendra Modi said that had the government taken the decision with the courage it could have been successful in achieving the results.

The 1.4 km long hanging bridge over the Chambal river in Kota is one of its kind. The techniques of engineers from eight countries have been used to build this bridges, which is worth Rs 277 crore. The environmental ministry was not clearing the proposal of building this bridge earlier as many alligators and crocodiles are the inhabitants of this region. Then the UPA government with the help of Japan and Korea took the decision of building the bridge without pillars and began the construction in 2008. But the project was stopped in 2009 after the tragic incident where 48 workers died under the debris of the bridge which fell due to the irresponsibility of the engineers. The construction work for the hanging bridge again began in 2014 under the BJP government, which was completed in 2017 and inaugurated by Modi on Tuesday, 29 Aug.

Talking about one of the major achievement of his government he said that when GST was implemented, all the people were scared of its consequences, but the successful launch of the single tax regime system in the country of 125 crore population, left the entire world amazed. He said that the government officials in Rajasthan should launch a GST campaign for 15 days to educate people about the new tax regime and this will also benefit the small traders. He further added that the transportation sector especially had benefited a lot after the launch of GST as now the trucks do not have to wait in long ques on the inter state borders.

Following the address of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union minister Nitin Gadkari also talking to the gathering said that the government under the leadership of Narendra Modi has built so many roads as many were not built in past 60 years. He said under the present government at the Centre, the projects have speeded up and will be completed without any delay. Gadkari said that earlier in Rajasthan there was a lot of difficulty in building roads.

He too attacking the previous government said that even though the foundation of these projects was laid by the previous government, but the work was being completed under the Vasundhara-led BJP government in Rajasthan. He questioned the previous Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot that why the works for these projects was stopped for so long. Gadkari challenged that the projects for which the foundations are laid today, the same projects will be completed and inaugurated in the next 1.5 years.

While Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje talking about the achievements of her government said that they had worked a lot under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao programme launched by the central government. The state government had even invited international intellectuals which helped a lot in the development under the scheme in many schools. She further added that many women have benefited from the Ujjwala Abhiyan, where many people voluntarily gave up their LPG subsidy so that others could benefit from the donation. Raje further added that by 2018 the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan will be fully implemented in the state.
