Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday held a pre-budget meeting with the representatives of Social workers Group in the national capital. This is Nirmala Sitharaman’s fifth such pre-budget meeting ahead of the upcoming Parliament Session where Sitharaman will present her first Union Budget in the Lok Sabha.

She had on Friday held discussions with stakeholders from the infrastructure sector and experts on climate change in 4th Pre-Budget meeting. Union Finance Ministers used to hold deliberations and discussions every year before presenting Budget in the Lok Sabha.

Nirmala Sitharaman is seeking feedbacks, and inputs from various Stakeholders ahead of the Budget Session of the 17th Lok Sabha.

The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on June 13 held her 3rd Pre- Budget consultations with the stakeholder Groups from Financial Sector and Capital Markets in New Delhi in connection with the forthcoming General Budget 2019-20.

Minister of State (MoS) Finance and Corporate Affairs, Anurag Singh Thakur were also present in the meeting.

The first session of the 17th Lok Sabha will begin from June 17th and will continue till July 26. While the President Ram Nath Kovind will address the sitting of both the houses on June 20. The Session of Rajya Sabha will start from June 20 with the President’s joint address.

The Economic Survey will be released on the 4th of July a day before. While next day, that is on July 5th, new Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the full-fledged budget in the House.

Nirmala Sitharaman who is inducted as Union Finance Minister in Modi Cabinet 2.0 will present the First Budget of this Government of July 5. Nirmala Sitharaman who held Defence portfolio in Narendra Modi‘s previous government, this time is inducted with a Finance Portfolio. She replaced BJP Stalwart Arun Jaitley who opted out of Cabinet race citing his health issues.

The government had in February this year presented an Interim Budget. Piyush Goyal,  who was given the interim charge of Finance presented Budget on February 1. He made some massive announcements including raising tax rebate up to 5 lakhs income, Rs 6,000 to Farmers yearly to double their income by 2022, and others.
