Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the fifth meeting Niti Aayog’s Governing Council on June 15. However, this will be his first meeting after storming back to power in the recently held national polls.

The Governing Council of the Niti Aayog includes to all the Chief Ministers, Governors of State, Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories, several Union Ministers and other officials. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the meeting and will discuss various issues concerning water management, agriculture, and security, official sources told.

Apart from this, The Governing Council will also discuss the security issue in districts affected by left-wing extremism in states like Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.

The Governing Council headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets regularly. This will be the fifth meeting. Its first meeting was held on February 8, 2015.

The second meeting of the council which took place on July 15, 2015, discussed the progress made by the three sub-groups of chief ministers and the two task forces.

While the PM Modi headed its third meeting on April 23, 2017. It was during the third meeting when the PM Modi discussed the idea of conducting elections of the Lok Sabha and the state assemblies together.

While the last meeting that was held a year ago on June 17, 2018, discussed the measures taken to double farmers’ income and the progress of the Centre’s.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party, on May 23 scripted history by bagging 303 seats on its own in the recently concluded national polls. Along with its allies, it took its tally to 352 Lok Sabha Seats out of 542 Seats were national polls held in April-May in seven phases.
