Amid the political chaos in Karnataka Assembly, Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar on Thursday sought a report from Home Minister MP Patil on MLA Shrimant Patil, who was admitted to a Mumbai hospital after he complained of having chest pain. He sought a report after raising questions on MLA Shrimant Patil.
Assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar directed the Home Minister MB Patil to contact family members of Congress Shrimant Patil immediately. ‘Give a detailed report to me by tomorrow, it does not look natural. If Home Minister can’t ensure protection, I will talk to DGP’, Assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar said in Assembly on Thursday.

Raising the questions on the letter sent by Congress MLA Shrimant Patil, Assembly Speaker said, ‘What kind of a Speaker I would be if I proceed with document (letter sent by Congress MLA Shrimant Patil informing about his ill health) which has no date or letterhead’, KR Ramesh Kumar said as quoted by ANI.

Karnataka Congress MLA Shrimant Patil who was staying with other Congress MLAs at Windflower Prakruthi Resort in Bengaluru, reached Mumbai last night. He was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai after he complained of chest pain. However, he has been shifted to Mumbai’s St. George Hospital from Bombay Hospital and Medical Research Centre for further treatment.

In the meantime, Congress Minister DK Shivakumar raised the issue of safety of Congress MLAs. Speaking in the Assembly, DK Shivakumar showed the photograph of MLA Shrimant Patil on a stretcher.

While Congress Minister and KPCC President Dinesh Gundu Rao also raised questions about the MLA Shrimant Patil. Speaking in the House, Dinesh Gundu Rao slammed BJP and said this is nothing but just a conspiracy of the saffron party.
Dinesh Gundu Rao said that there was hospital next to the resort where Congress MLAs were staying, then why Shrimant Patil flown to Chennai and then later to Mumbai for treatment?. ‘It’s just BJP’s conspiracy, he is healthy and nothing is wrong with him. It’s a conspiracy by BJP’, he further claimed.

Speaking in the House, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, earlier in the day, slammed BJP and accused it of toppling the government. He made the accusation while moving the confidence motion in the Karnataka Assembly.
However, Congress leader SG Siddharamaiah asserted the need for clarification of the Supreme Court’s verdict. Siddaramaiah said that because of the SC order, rebels would not appear in the House and If we go ahead with the confidence motion, it will be a big loss to the coalition government.
