The Telangana State government on Friday conveyed to the State Election Commission that they are ready to hold Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) Members of the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) Elections in the state before May 20.
The State Government while responding to SEC said that ZPTC and MPTC elections can be conducted anytime between April 22 and May 15.
The State Election Commission has recently sent a proposal to the State government on the issue.
The term of the members of Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Parishad is slated to end soon. The Election Commission of India also supported the proposal. The EC was also in favour of t hold local body elections after general elections in the state.
17 Parliamentary Seats of the state voted on April 11 as a part of Phase-I Voting.
The first phase of elections is expected to be held on May 6 while the second round of polling is slated for May 10.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao held discussions with the officials concerned Friday regarding the conduct of elections for local bodies. However, The state government said that the results of ZPTC and MPTC should only be announced after the declaration of results of General Elections on May 23.
Apart from this Chief Minister also held the meeting for new municipal acts. The Government aimed to bring a new set of rules before the municipal elections. The state will hold the municipal elections after the Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) Members of the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) Elections.
Revealing the outline structure and functioning, Telangana CM said, The District Administration has been tasked to look after all government scheme and to implement it. It will be responsible for providing services and initiate action against those who indulge in corruption.
