On Sunday, many new faces were added to the Council of Ministers, while quite a few had to walk their way out. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, before leaving to attend the BRICS summit in China, made many changes in his cabinet of ministers, promoting and demoting ministers based on their report cards in the past three years.-

Modi has expanded his cabinet though this expansion has invited a possible split in NDA. Unhappy with the changes in Modi cabinet and not getting any seat, Shiv Sena has called for an emergency meeting of its senior leaders on Monday. NDA’s new ally JD(U) is also not happy with the recent developments. Nitish Kumar and KC Tyagi have already expressed their concerns about it.

According to the sources, Shiv Sena is angry with the expansion of the cabinet and party’s leader Sanjay Raut had termed the incident as the end of NDA. The emergency meeting convened by the party will be attended by the senior party leaders and ministers of Maharashtra cabinet.

Earlier while referring to the reshuffle in the Union Cabinet, Shiv Sena had commented that it was a political requirement and even after three years of completing its rule at the Centre, Narendra Modi led government is still doing experiments. In an editorial mouthpiece of Shiv Sena, the party has stated that the people are still waiting for the ‘good days-achhe din’  to come.

In the editorial, the allocation of ministries has been stated as the internal matter of the BJP, “We can not remain silent because it relates to nation’s security and development of the country,” it read. The editorial further read that It said, “The Modi government has completed three years but the experiments are still in progress. Recalling the BJP’s 2014 election slogan, it said that people are still waiting for the charisma of ‘good days’.”

JD(U) MP and spokesperson KC Tyagi in a statement to the media said that the party is not disappointed at not being given positions in the cabinet, but the party was hoping that the manner in which the BJP and JDU together in Bihar are running the government, JDU would also be included at the center.

In the cabinet expansion on Sunday no representative from JDU and Shiv Sena was involved. According to the sources, JD(U) had demanded two ministries, while Shiv Sena had demanded 3 ministries, arguing that the party has more MPs than JD(U) and hence he should get more ministry.
