Before the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his home state on 16 Oct, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi taking a jibe at Modi tweeted that today’s weather forecast says there is going to be a rain of rhetoric in Gujarat.

This attack of Rahul at Modi comes in the wake that the Prime Minister today is likely to announce many perks and sops for the people of Gujarat ahead of the assembly polls due in Dec this year. Though BJP has been

Though BJP has been ruling the state for 22 years, this year’s elections are proving to be a tough fight for the party as it is getting strong competition from Congress, which the BJP was not expecting. The state is going to face the elections in Dec this year and both the parties, BJP and Congress are on the toes ahead of the polls campaigning to lure the voters.

The confident BJP seems to be losing its ground in the state as a feeling of anti-incumbency is rising against the Vijay Rupani government especially from the Patidars. OBC and Dalits. Taking Advantage of this Congress has been successful to some extent is getting the attention of the people and this could be seen in the good response the party got during the rallies headed by Rahul Gandhi.

BJP is, however, trying to grab the may be, what can be called as the last chance for the party to lure the voters. The EC has still not announced the date for the assembly elections in Gujarat, which means that the code of conduct is still not applied in the state. The opposition had criticised the EC on only announcing the dates for Himachal Pradesh and delaying it for Gujarat.

According to Congress, EC had done so under the pressure of BJP, as Modi was scheduled to visit the state on 16 Oct and he is most likely to announce a number of perks and sops, which would not have been possible if the code of conduct was applied.

Ahead of the visit of Modi to attend the Mahasammelan, Rahul Gandhi tweeted that the “jumla” or, empty promise, will reign supreme in the state.

Taking a jibe at the political tactics played by BJP, Rahul also taunted that “As Gujarat waits for poll dates, the state gets project worth nearly Rs 12,500 crores.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister a say ahead of his visit thanked the people of Gujarat for giving their blessings for so many years. He also tweeted that he will be present in Gandhinagar for the Mahasammelan on 16 October which “will bring together lakhs of BJP Karyakartas from across Gujarat”.

Mahasammelan is the conclusion of two mega rallies launched by BJP Party President Amit Shahin Gujarat, which reportedly covered 4500 kms and 149 out of the 182 assembly seats.

Narendra Modi will be addressing the Gujarat Gaurav Mahasammelan, marking the conclusion of the mega yatras started by Amit Shah on 1 Oct. State BJP chief Jitu Vaghani said “Tomorrow, the PM will give his guidance to around seven lakh BJP workers at the Gujarat Gaurav Mahasammelan to be held in Bhat village.”

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, BJP national president Amit Shah, and other leaders of the party will also be attending the event.
