MI chased 200+ runs for the second time in the history of the IPL.

The 42nd match of the IPL was to be played at the home ground of the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede.

This match was special for two reasons: it was the birthday of MI skipper Rohit Sharma and the 1000th IPL match.

MI dedicated this match to their skipper, as he also completed ten years of captaincy.

In ten years, he made MI win the title five times, the most by any franchise.

Match Details

The match was all set to take place, as the ground was full of fans.

RR won the toss and elected to bat first, setting up a good score.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) Innings

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler opened the inning for them.

They both started great, as they were hitting outstanding shots across the ground.

They both formed a great partnership of 72 runs when the experienced bowler Piyush Chawla took the wicket of Jos.

After the wicket of Jos, no batsmen were able to form a good partnership.

Irrespective of everything, the young talent, Yashasvi, kept on going and scoring runs.

He soon also completed his half-century and kept hitting great shots.

As the match went on, the talented boy completed his maiden IPL century.

Because of his knock of 124 runs, RR put up a total of 212/7.

Mumbai Indians (MI) Innings

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan opened the innings for the MI side.

Rohit soon lost his wicket to a slower one by Sandeep Sharma.

Ishan and Cameron Green kept MI in the game as the knock by Green, or 44 runs, kept MI in the game.

After a while, they both lost their wickets in short intervals as Surya Kumar Yadav came into bat.

Surya Kumar Yadav (SKY) was finally seen in the form again, which was great news for the MI team.

The great knock by him brought the game close as he lost his wicket to Boult.

The match was getting closer as MI needed 43 runs from the last three overs.

In the last over, when they needed 17 runs from six deliveries, Tim David showed his power as he hit three consecutive sixes and made his franchise win the match.

MI won the match by six wickets as they came up to the seventh position in the points table as it was also the most successful run-chase for them at Wankhede.
