It has been reported that Kane Williamson and Trent Boult have been rested for the series against West Indies as it was confirmed by the New Zealand Cricket on Tuesday when they announced the test squad and the T20 squad.

Trent Boult would be released from isolation the only day before the first T20 as he has just returned from UAE after winning the IPL with the Mumbai Indians. On the other hand, Kane is suffering from a hip injury and is focusing to be fit for the two-match series in December.

The coach of the New Zealand Cricket Team Gary Stead was delighted to announce the squads.

In a press release, he stated that he was aware of the time and circumstances due to the unpredictable situations and appreciates the work done in making the summer possible. He also said that it is the first time that the blackcaps will be playing a T20 international in one city and a test squad will be assembled in another. He further added that many players in touch due to the domestic cricket while some return following the IPL and are in isolation.

The new faces in the Black Caps include the likes of Devon Conway and Kyle Jamieson as they look to participate in the T20 series lead by Tim Southee. The 13 man test squad does not include the name of Conway even though he was the highest run-getter in the domestic competitions last year.
