As you all know pandemic COVID-19 virus is taking the whole world towards the suffering side. Even though medicine is not available, many countries are fighting against this virus and are seeking to get rid of this.

Many helping hands are trying to reach poor people who cannot afford food or shelter during this lockdown. Google India has come up with new technology to help people who are in need of food and shelter. Senior program manager of Google India Anal Ghosh said that as the COVID-19 situation gets more serious, the company will make concerted efforts to build solutions that help people the most.

As of now, Google Maps has added locations of shelter and food homes in 33 cities in India. Individuals can use Google Assistant to find these shelters. Earlier Google Assistant feature supported the English language only but now it can also support the Hindi language.

Caesar Sengupta said in a statement that this technology includes more than 33 cities with over 1,500 food and night shelters identified. Users can query in both English and Hindi, and efforts are on to bring this to other Indian languages over the coming weeks, as well as adding additional shelters in more cities across the country.

Google has also rolled out Google Assistant helpline number for the people who are on 2G devices and also who cannot access internet service. The users who are on 2G devices can call Google assistant helpline number 0008009191000(Vodafone and Idea users) and ask for food shelters and assistant will give the information regarding food and shelter centers in your area. Google has been working with central and state government officials to locate food and night shelters.

This is a great step by Google to help people. Google is also working to improve accessibility as most migrant workers are not very tech-savvy. I hope so this technology reaches the people who are in need.
