Huawei backed Honor is known for their budget friendly smartphones (at least in India). Finally, the OEM is ready with their big gun named Honor 8 Pro, can this device contend against big players like LG G6, HTC U11, Sony Xperia XZ+ and OnePlus 5?

As the device was made available earlier in China, we know the complete specifications and features. However, the only thing that is bothering us right now is their pricing model. According to rumours, the device is likely to be placed under 30,000 price bracket, which is a latest sweet spot for the most of the smartphone buyers.

The Honor 8 features an all-metal unibody design. Underneath, the device houses its own in-house Kirin 960 flagship SoC, paired with whooping 6 GB LPDDR4 RAM and 128 onboard storage as a standard option. In terms of additional storage requirement, the Hybrid SIM tray does support micro SD card up to 128 GB with a SIM or two SIM cards. The display is one more additional factor on this phone, as it sports a mammoth 5.7 inch 2K IPS LCD screen, probably a first in the under 30,000 smartphone catalog.

Looking at the next set of features, the camera on the Honor 8 Pro offers dual sensor solution, with identical 12 MP solution, one being a monochrome sensor and another being normal sensor. Unlike OnePlus or Apple, this device doesn’t offer 2X optical zoom, instead of this set of camera tops at low light photography with 4k video recording capability.

The device is equipped with 4000 mAh Li-ion non-user replaceable battery with fast charging capability via USB type C port. It also houses old school 3.5 mm headphone jack along with an infrared sensor to control home appliances.

The operating system here is based on Android Nougat with highly customisable options. Finally, the fate of this device will be decided by the price point at which the device will be offered in India.
