Cat brand is known for their rugged smartphones and it has now announced a new 8-inch tablet powered by Windows 10 operating system. Like their entire portfolio, the device comes with IP67 certification, so the device can survive in water with less than 1 meter deep and due to its structural integrity, the device can be found in complete working condition even if it falls from 1.8 meters height.
The device is constructed in such a way that, it can withstand most of the day-to-day impact (accidental drops, slips). The device offers 8-inch (diagonally)800×1280 pixels resolution display, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
The back case is made using the combination of plastic and rubber to with stand heavy impacts. The device is powered by entry level Intel Atom 1.4 GHz Quad-core SoC, paired with 2 GB LPDDR3 RAM and 64 GB onboard storage.
The device offers 5 MP rear-facing camera with auto focus technology and a 2 MP front facing selfie camera for the video-calls and conferences. The device does offer 4G LTE capability with Bluetooth 4.0 and Supports dual channel WiFi bands. The device also offers full sized USB 3.0 port and mini HDMI port.
There is no information regarding the pricing or availability. One has to wait for at least few months before the device arrives in the market.
