Pokemon GO creator Niantic just accomplished augmented reality startup Escher Reality, the two companies communicated today. Escher builds AR tools for mobile devices, and it will now help Niantic grow its platform to abutment planet-scale AR. This means paler could one day band together to hunt Pikachus and Jiggly-puffs in a insistent, shared AR game world similar to a MMO. Niantic Labs gained deliberation and popularity in 2016 when its AR game Pokemon GO struck a chord with mobile gamer who rushed out into the world to seizing delectable 3-D creatures called Pokemon.

Escher’s technology helps to build immovable, cross platform, multi-user experiences. The addition of the Escher AR technology is incredibly exciting to us at Niantic as it incomparably accelerates our work on incessant, shared AR as part of the Niantic real-world application platform Escher Reality is the developer of a cross-platform AR software toolkit that allows multiple mobile devices to annex and share the same experience. With company’s visual mapping and compute vision software, multiple people will see the same overlaid 3-D effected objects and interact with objects in the environment near them. The result is computer-generated graphics that appear to be aware of floors, roofing, walls and furniture.

In other Pokemon GO news, there are some new outfit styles achievable to players. In order to get their hands on the new gossamers, the players must first earn Battle Girl, Jogger or Fisherman medals, and then go and property the desired items.

We are really looking forward to associating our work on mapping and computer vision technology into Niantic’s amazing content and AR platform.  Escher Reality CEI Ross Fin-man and CTO Diana HU write in their own blog post “The long term vision is to help to bring shared and persistent AR experiences to millions of people around the world, and further realize AR’s pulse going forward. Ultimately, we share Niantic’s goal of enriching people’s experience by blending the physical and the digital worlds”.
