The outbreak of COVID-19 is worse, Being hygiene and maintaining social distancing are the only methods to stop spreading this virus. Frequent handwashes are recommended by the WHO(World Health Organization).

On the basis of frequent handwash, Samsung Research Institute-Bangalore (SRI-B) has developed a ‘Hand Wash’ app. Importantly, this app is only meant for Galaxy Watch users. In order to help users to maintain hand hygiene in line with WHO recommendations.

To develop this app, the designers and developers of SRI-B’s UX and wearable teams worked round-the-clock over the last two weeks to come up with this solution.

How does it work?

This app helps users to maintain their hand hygiene by reminding them. It also ensures that hand wash is thorough for the duration of 20 seconds as recommended by WHO. Basically, this app comes with preset reminders which users can customize further based on their needs and schedule.

When a user starts his handwash process, the app tracks the time and provides feedback after 25 seconds of the wash cycle. The first Five seconds are for turning on the tap and applying soap, while 20 seconds are for actual hand wash. This app also notifies the users if they have missed any scheduled washes. This app is now available on the Galaxy store where users can download it from there.

Samsung newsroom post says” “The World Health Organization has recommended frequent washing of hands among a slew of other measures to halt the spread of COVID-19. Hand wash is considered effective only when it lasts for about 20 seconds, according to healthcare professionals”.

Samsung’s contribution to PM’s fund

The ‘Hand Wash’ app allows users to track their daily wash trends to build healthy habits over a period. Also, Samsung pledges RS 20 crore to against Corona in India. This is recognized by PM Modi and calls it “Good Gesture”. I hope so this app will motivate its users for frequent handwashes.
