Afghanistan has on Wednesday recalled its ambassadors from Pakistan over reportedly remarks by Islamabad’s Prime Minister Imran Khan, calling it “irresponsible”, that has suggested Kabul should effort to set up an interim government.

According to news reports, Khan has told reporters on Monday forming an interim government in Afghanistan could facilitate peace talks between the Taliban and the United States, as the Taliban has repeatedly refused to hold Afghan peace talks with the current government.

Khan was quoted by The Express Tribune news agency as saying, “The Afghan government was a hurdle in (the) peace process that was insisting that Taliban should talk to it.”

He has also said that he had cancelled a scheduled meeting with the Taliban as per the request by the Afghan government.

In a series of tweets, foreign affairs ministry spokesperson  Sibghatullah Ahmadi said Kabul has summoned its Islamabad’s deputy envoy in order to discuss the “irresponsible” remarks by Khan.

Ahmad said the government has deemed Khan’s statement as “an obvious example of Pakistan’s interventional policy and disrespect to the national sovereignty and determination of the people of Afghanistan”.

However, many refusals by the Taliban of not holding talks with the Afghan government, it has held talks with the US to end the 17-year-long Afghan war and crisis.
