Afghanistan’s current President Ashraf Ghani and chief executive Abdullah Abdullah have on Sunday, formally entered the race of presidential election going to be held on July 20 this year.

On the one hand, Ghani’s running mates are the incumbent vice president Mohammad Sarwar Danish and country’s intelligence agency’s ex-chief Amarullah Saleh is in the presidential election race.

And on the other hand, according to TOLOnews, Abdullah’s running mate as the first vice president is Ayatullah Babur Farahmand and former MP Asadullah Saadati as the second vice president.

According to ANI news reports, after filing nomination papers, Ghani said, “We will work for peace on behalf of a dignified and a painful nation, but we will not beg for peace from anyone, Governance is a responsibility rather than a prize. Wealth is not something brought by the wind to distribute it among the specific people.”

Well, this will be the second time Abdullah and Ghani would be facing each other at the polls this year, with the 2014 polls being the last time for them where they were seen contesting against each other for the post of president.

However, until now, the 2019 presidential election race in Afghanistan consists of current president Ghani, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, Wali Massoud, Noorul Haq Ulumi, Mohammad Haneef Atmar, Faramarz Tamanna, Zalmai Rassoul, Enayatuallah Hafiz, Abdul Latif Pedram, Sayed Noorullah Jalili, and Hakim Torsam.
