Budapest [Hungary], August 28: Hungary on Tuesday said it sought some additional investments from India during an official visit by Dr. S Jaishankar, the Indian external affairs minister (EAM), to Budapest apart from deepening cooperation in segments such as water management, digitalization, film production, pharmaceuticals, and solar energy.

According to ANI, Jaishankar also underlined the positive trend of the Indian investment in Hungary, as well as, its beneficial competitiveness and favourable business environment, the Indian embassy in Budapest said in an official statement.

Jaishankar, who has embarked on an official two-day visit to Hungary from August 25-27, also held wide-range discussions with Peter Szijjarto, the Hungarian foreign minister, over multilateral and bilateral issues, including talks on cooperation with the V4 or the Visegrad Group.

V4 is a political and cultural alliance of four Central European states – Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland – the members of NATO and the European Union (EU), for the advancement of energy, economic, cultural, and military cooperation with one another.

Both the nations also inked a cultural exchange programme between Hungary and India for 2019-2022 time period. Hungary announced it will join the international solar alliance.

Following his “positive” meeting with the Hungarian foreign minister, both leaders inked a cultural exchange programme.

Jaishankar, at the invitation extended by Szijjarto, also attended the Hungarian Ambassadors’ Conference. He said, “An engaging interaction on the state of the world,” following the conference, according to ANI news reports.

He had also inaugurated a photo exhibition on Hungary-India relations at the Indian Embassy situated in Budapest, celebrating the 70th anniversary of both nations’ diplomatic relations.
