The Nepal government has on Thursday, called upon and decided to ban the Indian currency above Rs 100 of the denomination.

According to news reports, council of ministers had a meeting where they reached to decision to be published about not to use any Indian currency above Rs 100 i.e., Rs 200, 500 and 200 denominations in the country Nepal.

While revealing the decision made by the ministers, government spokesperson Gokul Banskota said, “The government has decided to publish a notice not to use, carry and keep the Indian bills of 200, 500 and 2000 denominations.”

Nepal government has produced a notice for its citizen to refrain from using and keeping denomination notes of India – Rs 200, Rs 500 and Rs 2000, as it hasn’t legalized higher denomination notes. This move by Nepal government can affect both Indian tourist going to Nepal and Nepali people, who are working in India and carries Nepali currency for the transactions.

The cabinet also decided to allow loans to small farmers from the Sajha Co-operative and also decided to approve a regulation in order to manage the funds of the human rights awards.

Nepal government has decided to seek the discussion of public service commission over another of the ordinance on the integration of the Nepal police personnel to the provincial police and has also approved positions of about 167 staff in order to ensure the timely completion of the federal projects on the potable water.

The cabinet also decided to organize a mechanism in order to maintain the bilateral consultations ties between Cambodia and the foreign ministers of the country – Nepal.

It has also decided to repay the owners of huts and lands, who does not have any land-ownership certificates and who are situated near-by within 25 metres over either sides of the Mechi Bridge. The bridge has been constructed with the Asian development bank grant.
